Terpene Gummies

Making terpene-infused gummies is a fun and creative way to enjoy the benefits of terpenes. These gummies combine the flavors and potential health benefits of terpenes with the chewy, sweet treat that is easy to customize.

Here’s a simple recipe to make your own terpene-infused gummies at home. You can adjust the terpenes based on the desired effects, such as relaxation, focus, or energy.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup fruit juice (choose juice with natural flavors that complement your terpenes; e.g., orange, lemon, or mixed berry juice)

  • 2 tablespoons gelatin (use vegan gelatin or agar-agar if you prefer a plant-based option)

  • 1–2 teaspoons sweetener (optional, honey, maple syrup, or agave syrup)

  • 1–2 drops of terpene extract (choose your preferred terpene, such as limonene for uplifting, linalool for calming, or myrcene for relaxation)

  • 1/2 teaspoon citric acid (optional, for a tart flavor and better preservation)

  • 1 tablespoon glycerin (optional, adds sweetness and helps maintain texture)

  • Silicone gummy molds (for shaping the gummies)

Instructions

1. Prepare the juice mixture

In a small saucepan, heat 1 cup of fruit juice over medium heat. Stir occasionally, but don't bring it to a boil. Just warm enough to dissolve the gelatin.

2. Add gelatin

Slowly sprinkle 2 tablespoons of gelatin into the warm juice, whisking continuously to prevent clumps. If you're using agar-agar, follow the instructions on the package, as it may require different handling than traditional gelatin. Continue stirring until the gelatin is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.

3. Add sweetener (optional)

Stir in your sweetener of choice (such as honey or agave) if you'd like to make your gummies a bit sweeter. Adjust to taste.

4. Add terpenes

Once the mixture is smooth and the gelatin has dissolved, remove the pan from heat. Add 1–2 drops of your terpene extract. For example: Limonene (uplifting, from citrus fruits) Linalool (calming, from lavender) Myrcene (relaxing, from mango or hops) Stir the terpene extract into the mixture thoroughly. Be mindful that terpenes are potent, so start with a drop or two and adjust based on your preference.

5. Add citric acid (optional)

If you want a tangy flavor and to enhance the shelf life of your gummies, add about 1/2 teaspoon of citric acid. Stir to combine.

6. Pour the mixture into molds

Carefully pour the mixture into silicone gummy molds. Use a dropper or a spoon for precision. The molds can be in any shape, but small and bite-sized shapes are recommended.

7. Let them set

Place the filled molds in the refrigerator to set. Let them chill for about 1-2 hours or until fully firmed up.

8. Unmold and store

Once the gummies are set, gently remove them from the molds. Store your terpene gummies in an airtight container, preferably in the fridge, to keep them fresh. They should last for about 1-2 weeks.

Terpene Options and Benefits:

  • Limonene: Found in citrus fruits, it’s great for mood enhancement, energy, and stress relief. It gives a fresh, citrusy flavor.

  • Linalool: Found in lavender and mint, it promotes relaxation and calmness. It’s excellent for evening gummies.

  • Myrcene: Found in mango, hops, and lemongrass, it’s known for its sedative and relaxing effects. Great for winding down.

  • Pinene: Found in pine needles and rosemary, it can enhance focus and memory. Ideal for daytime use.

  • Caryophyllene: Found in black pepper, cloves, and hops, it may have anti-inflammatory effects and a spicy, peppery flavor.

Customizing Your Gummies:

Flavors: Experiment with different fruit juices or even add zest from citrus fruits to match the terpene you're using. For example, mix lemon juice with limonene to double up on citrusy flavors.

Sweeteners: Adjust the sweetness by using more or less honey, agave, or maple syrup, depending on your preference.

Shape: You can use different molds to create fun shapes, like bears, hearts, or stars, which can be a fun touch for children or parties.

By making terpene-infused gummies at home, you can control the ingredients and tailor the flavors and effects to your personal needs. Enjoy these gummies as a tasty, natural way to experience the benefits of terpenes!
