Terpene Chocolate

Making terpene-infused chocolate is a creative and fun way to combine the world of cannabis and chocolate-making. Terpenes are aromatic compounds found in many plants, including cannabis, that can enhance the flavor and scent of your chocolate.

Here’s how you can make your own terpene-infused chocolate:

Ingredients

  • Chocolate (choose your preferred type: dark, milk, or white) – about 8 ounces (230g)

  • Cannabis terpenes (choose a strain-specific terpene blend for the best flavor experience; you can find these from cannabis suppliers)

  • Coconut oil or cocoa butter – 1-2 tablespoons (optional, for texture)

  • Sweetener (if you're making dark chocolate, you can add some sugar or other sweeteners to taste)

  • Vanilla or flavoring (optional, to complement the terpenes)

Equipment

  • Double boiler or microwave (for melting the chocolate)

  • Mixing bowl

  • Chocolate molds (optional, if you want to shape the chocolate)

  • Stirring utensil (spoon or spatula)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Chocolate Base

  • Chop the chocolate into small pieces to help it melt evenly.

  • Set up a double boiler by placing a heatproof bowl over a pot of simmering water. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate in the microwave in short intervals (about 20-30 seconds) and stir each time to avoid burning it.

  • Stir the chocolate occasionally as it melts to make sure it’s smooth and fully melted.

2. Add Terpenes

  • Once the chocolate is melted, add the cannabis terpenes. Start with a very small amount, as terpenes are highly concentrated. Typically, about 1-2 drops per ounce of chocolate is a good starting point.

  • Stir well to ensure the terpenes are evenly distributed throughout the chocolate.

3. Optional: Add Coconut Oil or Cocoa Butter

  • If you prefer a smoother texture, add a tablespoon or two of coconut oil or cocoa butter to the melted chocolate. This will give the chocolate a silky finish.

4. Sweeten the Chocolate (Optional)

  • If you are making dark chocolate, you might want to add a sweetener like sugar, agave syrup, or stevia to balance the bitter taste. Stir it in after the chocolate has melted.

5. Pour Into Molds or Prepare the Chocolate

  • If you have chocolate molds, pour the mixture into them. You can also just spread it on a parchment-lined baking sheet if you prefer a larger, flat chocolate bar.

  • Let the chocolate cool and harden. You can speed up this process by placing the molds or sheet in the fridge for 30-60 minutes.

6. Enjoy

  • Once the chocolate has cooled and hardened, it's ready to be enjoyed! Store the terpene-infused chocolate in an airtight container to preserve its freshness and potency.

Tips:

  • Start small with the terpenes, as their flavor is quite strong and may overwhelm the chocolate if overused.

  • Experiment with terpenes: Different terpene profiles will give the chocolate unique flavors. For instance, "Limonene" will give a citrusy flavor, while "Myrcene" has an earthy, musky taste.

By carefully balancing the terpenes and the quality of chocolate, you’ll create a tasty and aromatic chocolate treat with an extra layer of complexity!
