Terpene-Infused Brownies Recipe
These terpene-infused brownies combine the rich, decadent flavor of chocolate with the unique aromatics and wellness benefits of terpenes. You can experiment with different terpene profiles to complement the deep chocolate flavor, whether you’re looking to add a citrusy zing, a floral touch, or a relaxing herbal note.
Here’s how to make Terpene Brownies using natural terpenes:
Ingredients
-
1/2 cup (115g) unsalted butter
-
1 cup (200g) sugar
-
2 large eggs
-
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
-
1/2 cup (50g) unsweetened cocoa powder
-
1/2 cup (60g) all-purpose flour
-
1/4 teaspoon salt
-
1/2 teaspoon baking powder
-
1/2 cup (85g) dark chocolate (chopped or chips)
Terpene Additions:
-
1–2 drops of terpene oil (depending on the flavor you choose)
-
Limonene (for citrus notes)
-
Linalool (for calming lavender)
-
Myrcene (for earthy and fruity tones)
-
Pinene (for piney, fresh aromas)
Instructions
1. Preheat the Oven and Prepare the Baking Pan
• Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
• Grease and line an 8x8-inch baking pan with parchment paper, or lightly grease the pan with butter to prevent sticking.
2. Melt the Butter and Chocolate
• In a medium saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the dark chocolate pieces and stir until fully melted and smooth.
• Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool slightly before adding the eggs.
3. Mix the Wet Ingredients
• In a large bowl, whisk together the sugar, eggs, and vanilla extract until well combined.
• Gradually pour in the cooled butter-chocolate mixture and stir until everything is smooth.
4. Add Dry Ingredients
• In a separate bowl, whisk together the cocoa powder, flour, baking powder, and salt.
• Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Stir just until combined — be careful not to overmix.
5. Add Terpenes
• Once the batter is smooth, it’s time to add your terpene of choice. Start with 1–2 drops of your preferred terpene oil.
You can choose:
-
Limonene (citrusy and fresh)
-
Linalool (lavender, calming)
-
Myrcene (earthy and fruity)
-
Pinene (fresh and piney)
• Stir the batter gently to incorporate the terpenes and optional cannabinoids evenly.
6. Bake the Brownies
• Pour the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth it into an even layer.
• Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out with just a few moist crumbs (not wet batter). Keep in mind that the brownies will continue to cook slightly after being removed from the oven.
7. Cool and Cut
• Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
• Once cooled, cut into squares and enjoy!
Optional Serving Suggestions
Top with a dusting of powdered sugar for a touch of elegance
• Serve with a scoop of vanilla ice cream or a drizzle of chocolate sauce for an extra indulgent treat.
Pair with a herbal tea or a citrusy drink to complement the terpene flavors.
Terpene Intensity: Be mindful of the amount of terpene oil you use, as these compounds are potent and a little goes a long way. Start with 1 drop, and adjust based on your taste preferences.
